Preperation for work

After i finish University i would like to get into doing some more artistic style of photography, instead of doing a type of freelance or event photography, rather i would like to get into doing galleries and photobook projects. in terms of getting into doing this type of photography i think a fair few of potential projects might have to be self funded, howeever i do think going forward apllying for grants and bursarys may help. In terms of funding through grants, multiple foundations do offer grants however they are incredibly limited which is an issue and makes the process of recieving one a whole lot harder, for example the british centre for photography offer some, however as of writting this the last “realisation Grant” started 29th november of 2024, and submissions ended 15th of january 2025, meaning there hasnt been one in almost a year, with no amount listed as the reward. The Royal Photographic Society also offer multiple bursaries Ranging in prices from £2000 to £4000 in rewards and the “competitions” seem to happen more often, however while the British Centre For Photography grants offer money to multiple winners (Four winners out of 574 Apllicants), the Royal Photographic Society burssarys offering only one winner per competition. I would also Like to consider other experiences while looking at ways of earning money, such as potential publication possibilities as some Magazines often have open submissions, allowing anyone with the right skillset and other required details for submission. i would also like to consider further education, perhaps finding a photographer who has a type of photography i like that i could be an apprentice/assistant for, allowing me ot learn newer skills as well as better connections and opportunities.
